Baku / 31.10.17 / Turan: In 2016, the incomes of the population on wages amounted to 11 billion 577 million manat, which is 4.9% more than in the previous year. At the same time, the incomes of entrepreneurs increased by 12% over the year, according to the State Statistics Committee"s report on national accounts.

The share of entrepreneurs in the incomes of the population was about 70% in 2016. Entrepreneurs earned (28 billion 378 million manat) 2.4 times more than employees.

Referring to similar statistics of Western countries, the economist Rovshan Agayev regards this distribution of incomes as "unfair". According to him, in the leading countries of Europe (France and Germany) about 50-55% of the national income in the form of wages falls on the share of workers, and 25-35% are profits of businessmen.

The average monthly salary in Azerbaijan did not reach 500 manat in 2016. At the same time, the majority of people employed in the economy receive a salary below this figure. By the level of wages in dollar terms, Azerbaijan is inferior even to neighboring Georgia and Armenia. -----08B--
